The Palembang LRT is Indonesia’s first light rail transit system, designed to support modern urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in South Sumatra’s capital. Extending across key corridors, including a direct link to Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport, the project represents an important milestone in the development of sustainable public transportation in the country.

One of the most distinctive features of the Palembang LRT is its elevated alignment, which runs above major roads and the Musi River, allowing uninterrupted travel through the city’s dense urban fabric. The system integrates 13 stations strategically located along its route, providing smooth connections between residential, commercial, and transportation hubs. Designed to operate efficiently even during peak travel periods, the LRT helps reduce travel times, promote environmentally friendly transport, and support economic growth by improving accessibility across Palembang.

Within this landmark initiative, PT Perentjana Djaja undertook a comprehensive role covering every major stage of the engineering process. The company was responsible for:

  1. the preparation stage, including surveys and data collection;
  2. the preparation of basic and detailed design;
  3. the development of design concepts into implementable solutions;
  4. the completion of final design documentation; and
  5. construction supervision to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to schedule.

Through this integrated scope, PT Perentjana Djaja contributed to the successful realization of a reliable and efficient transit network, helping establish the Palembang LRT as a pioneering model for urban rail systems in Indonesia.
